Escuela Americana Extension Program

Escuela Americana created the Extension Program (EAX) in 1979, with the main goal of offering English courses as a service to the community. By doing so, the school became accessible to anyone who wanted to learn this foreign language. The school’s excellent reputation for language teaching played an important part in motivating the community to study in the program.
Our educational program is built on high quality standards and the commitment to help each individual develop his or her potential. Escuela Americana offers a program embracing the cultures of El Salvador and the United States.

What began as English classes has expanded to what is now EAX, a division of Escuela Americana which encompasses the following areas: Languages, Continuing Education and PrintEA. Each of these areas has a team of experts who strives to be at the forefront and who works towards the continuous improvement of our services and the creation of new ones.

Educational Mission

Escuela Americana’s educational program is built on high quality standards and the commitment to help each individual develop his or her potential. It offers a program embracing the cultures of El Salvador and the United States.

Educational objectives

To provide an excellent course of study in the programs we offer.
To maintain high quality standards and integrity in everything we do.
To provide students with a program of study and preparation sufficient to be competent in our different courses, in the different labor markets.
To provide living models of the virtues and values of this learning community.
To constantly innovate in education and technology.

Programs In-Depth

The EAX Language Program offers in-house English courses to individuals who wish to learn in a full-English, comfortable and modern environment. Founded in 1979 as a service provided by The American School to the Salvadoran community, it has grown from 200 students to 2,680 students in 2014 and 95 teachers per semester.

Classes are structured in a cyclical basis and serve students divided by age into any of this three groups: Children (7 to 12), Teenagers (13 to 17), and Adults (18 and older).

Each group studies English as a Foreign Language (EFL) with a curriculum based on the Common European Framework of Reference for languages, and materials that are age-appropriate and attractive. Levels range from Beginner proficiency level to Conversational English and TOEFL preparation. EAX also offers a TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) preparation course, and administers the exam itself.

Continuing Education

In 2002, EAX started the Outreach Program, a program now called Educación Continua (E.C.). We have transformed our methodology to business settings and we offer classes to office personnel and executives on campus or the comfort of their workplace. Special courses such as “Spanish”, “English at work” and others, have also been implemented off our grounds.

The Continuing Education program uses a variety of assessments such as CASAS, TOEIC, OUP among others, as instruments to certify the English level of our students.

E.C. also teaches English through technology courses such as ESP (English for Specific Purposes) for Call Centers and the TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certification to adults interested in teaching.

PrintEA offers printing services and graphic design for the EA community and to external customers. We create and produce high quality materials, such as personalized educational materials and resources, reproductions, yearbooks, advertisement products and other printed materials.

A variety of items, ranging from small invitation cards to photobooks and large banners can be created by PrintEA.

Social Responsability
EAX’s gives back to the Salvadoran community through a partnership with Fundación San Andrés (FSA), helping with its EIJ program, “Educación Integral Juvenil”. EIJ’s main objective is to provide education for 120 students, ages 14-18, from the Valle de San Andrés in the areas of English Language instruction and Professional Orientation, which will enable them to improve their quality of life and have access to better job opportunities.
