Escuela Americana in San Salvador, El Salvador was founded in 1946 and is an independent,
international, coeducational, college-preparatory institution for grade
Pre-Kinder (4 year olds) through 12th Grade.
Escuela Americana, which strives for a balance between academic and personal
excellence, offers a strong curriculum, a variety of athletic offerings and
extracurricular activities. This balance is maintained within a framework which
recognizes both the school’s bilingual, bicultural nature immersed in the
Salvadoran community and a commitment to the school’s core values of personal
integrity, leadership, scholarship, tolerance and service.

Escuela Americana is divided into three academic areas: Lower School (Pre-Kinder
through 5th), Middle School (6th through 8th), and Upper School (9th through

EA’s student body consists of 76% host nationals, 16% North Americans and 8%
other internationals representing 20 countries — Korea, Guatemala, Canada, Costa
Rica, France, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Israel, Colombia, and Mexico
There are 135 full-time and 3 part-time faculty. 73% are host nationals, 25% are
North Americans, and 2% are international representing Canada, France, Honduras,
and the Dominican Republic. Over 70% of the English curriculum faculty members
have American undergraduate and/or graduate degrees.
